First you had Napster.. then there were a lot of legal alternatives like iTunes.. but now there is Spotify!
Spotify is a service that offers you access to a huge database of music by paying a monthly fixed fee.
At this moment they have 3 products available. The first one is their “Open” subscription. It’s free, and allows you to listen to all the music available in their database, but with a maximum of 20 hours per month and includes ads!
The second subscription is named “Unlimited“. It offers the same things as Spotify Open, but with 2 extra benefits: Unlimited listening and no ads!
Then we have “Premium“, which is the third and last one. It has the same things as the products mentioned above, but includes higher quality audio (320 Kbit instead of 160 Kbit), listening to music on your smartphone, offline mode (meaning you can listen to music without being connected to the internet) and much more!

Dutch couple Jannetta Dorsman and René Hoksbergen from the town of Zeist are going to get married soon. Nothing special, you might think.. Until I heard that they will get married online.. using Twitter!
They’ve met each other at the real estate office they work at. They both are fanatic Twitter users, with Jannetta being specialised in social media marketing.
René proposed Jannetta in his 1000th tweet, during a special Twitter event.
As they both want to share this happening with the world, everyone is welcome to visit them on the unique date of 20 october 2010 (20-10-2010).

I was just browsing for some Podcasts to download on my iPod Touch, and I came across this great Podcast (make sure you have installed iTunes) from Dutch radiostation Radio Decibel.
It’s really worth listening! At least, I think so.. :)

I’m currently finding out whether I should use iWork or Microsoft Office for Mac on my MacBook.
At my work we have been using Microsoft Office for Mac for a while now, and as far as I have heard from some users, it doesn’t compare to the Windows version of Office in any way. The interface is way different from the Windows version, and it still has problems reading out some Windows generated files.
Some functions aren’t working the same way as it would in the Windows version, so if you’re currently using Office on a Windows machine, it would take you some time before you would have found out all the functions in the Mac version.
iWork on the other side, is a complete different office package. It was created by Apple (woohoo!) but still has the ability to open Microsoft Office generated files. I haven’t actually looked at it so far, so I think I will give it a chance, and try it out for a couple of weeks to see if it will fit my needs.
There is also a free package available. It’s called OpenOffice and was created by Oracle. It does it’s job very well, but if you frequently work with documents that were created with Microsoft Office, you might encounter some problems, such as lay-outs not showing up as they were designed.

Summer holidays are almost over here in The Netherlands.
I have done plenty of things this summer. I went to the Dutch province of Zeeland in July, and made some trips to Belgium and France.
Last monday I went to Disneyland Paris for a day with some of my friends. It was a great day, but the trip itself (about 500 km from Utrecht to Disneyland) is really exhausting.
I have been back to work for a couple of weeks now, but it’s still really quiet at the office, because most of our customers are having a break too at the moment. I expect that everything turns back to it’s normal level of operation at the end of this month.
Well that’s it for now!

T-Mobile Nederland heeft naar aanleiding van de vele klachten met betrekking tot dekking en stabiliteit van haar netwerk, eindelijk een officiële reactie gegeven.
Dit valt te lezen op diverse websites, zoals die van Webwereld.
Ik citeer: “Mobiele operator T-Mobile belooft een flinke investering in de uitbreiding van zijn 2G- en 3G-netwerk. In 2010 wordt de totale 3G-capaciteit verdubbeld. De forse netwerkinvesteringen zijn woensdag aangekondigd in een toelichting op de kwartaalcijfers. De operator meldt dat momenteel het aantal antenne-installaties in het 3G-netwerk nog eens met 30 procent uit te breiden.” -Webwereld
Tijdens de “Coen en Sandershow” op 3FM, werdt op 11 en 12 mei al aandacht besteed aan dit probleem. Op 12 mei kwam T-Mobile’s woordvoerder, Henny van der Heiden, tijdens de uitzending met een officiële reactie waarin hij verklaarde dat de capaciteit van het netwerk vóór het einde van 2010 verdubbeld zou moeten zijn.
We wachten af! Ik ben in ieder geval blij dat T-Mobile deze problemen eindelijk heeft erkend.

Vandaag heb ik wat op en neer “getwitterd” met T-Mobile Webcare over de slechte 3G dienstverlening in onder andere Utrecht.
T-Mobile heeft in een DM (Direct Message) gemeld dat er binnen 3 maanden verbetering komt. Zie onderstaand screenshot.
Daarna had ik ze nog een tweet gestuurt met betrekking tot het feit dat hun concurrent, Vodafone, een mooie pagina online heeft staan waar zij problemen/werkzaamheden aan hun netwerk melden.
Hierop kreeg ik het antwoord dat hier te vinden is.
Wat betreft Webcare ben ik wel te spreken over de service, ben alleen nu nog benieuwd hoe zij de beloftes uiteindelijk gaan uitwerken tot realiteit.
Voor de rest wil ik wel even duidelijk maken dat ik niet anti-T-Mobile ben. Het is een prima bedrijf. De medewerkers staan je (naar mijn mening) altijd netjes te woord, en wat betreft verkeerde facturen ben ik ook altijd netjes behandeld. Het enige waar ik niet over te spreken ben is het netwerk. Vooral sinds het laatste half jaar is dat achteruit gegaan.
T-Mobile zou er eens over na moeten denken om een aantal goede Service Level Managers in dienst te gaan nemen.

Al enige tijd doen zich problemen voor op het T-Mobile 3G netwerk in onder andere het centrum van Utrecht.
Met name het gebied rondom het Centraal Station, Vredenburg en Neude hebben gewoon 3G signaal, maar je kunt niet bellen, gebeld worden of internetten.
In deze delen van de stad ben je dan ook genoodzaakt om je telefoon op 2G/GSM in te stellen om te kunnen bellen.
Helaas wil T-Mobile dit probleem niet erkennen. Diverse telefoontjes naar de klantenservice leidt alleen maar als resultaat: “Meneer, onze technische dienst heeft de betreffende mast gecontroleerd, maar er is gewoon verkeer mogelijk.”
Hier schieten we natuurlijk niets mee op. Daarom zou ik het verzoek willen doen aan iedereen die ditzelfde probleem ervaart, dit te melden op deze pagina.
Het postcode gebied van Utrecht Centrum is 3511, vermeld deze postcode dan ook op bovengenoemde pagina.
